“Welcome to 5781–Shanah Tovah! We will enter it holding the challenges of the past months and our hope for a better year to come. For the past 6 months, Covid-19 has impacted every facet of our lives. Throughout these challenging times, Temple Israel of New Rochelle has been guided by the Jewish value of pikuach nefesh—putting health and safety first. Our 5781 High Holiday experiences will also adhere to this principle as we will offer a combination of sacred community opportunities to celebrate and observe at home, online, and panim el panim—face to face—socially distanced and wearing masks. Be sure to pick up a “High Holidays from Home” kit, enabling us to begin on Rosh Hashanah eve and to conclude with Havdalah, marking the end of Yom Kippur, connected together as one community. Although our primary worship services will be online, we invite all to participate in a variety of Elul and High Holiday events and programs that will broaden our Jewish connection to each other, our temple and ourselves.
Wishing you a healthy, safe, and sweet New Year. L’shanah tovah um’tukah.”
