Social Action

Mission Statement

The Temple Israel community engages in Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World) daily. Through on-going and monthly collections, sandwich brigades, monthly cooking,  our annual Mitzvah Day and Giving Tree, Temple Israel engages and supports local neighbors in Westchester and beyond. Every B’nei Mitzvah student chooses a Mitzvah project to plan and carry-out leading up to their Bar/Bat Mitzvah day on the bimah. Our Tikkun Teens program engages 8th – 12th graders in a monthly activity (September-June) focused on social action. Our Kehillah Early Childhood Families are active participants and organizers of projects throughout the year.

All meetings are at the Temple on Sundays, beginning 9:45 am unless otherwise notified. Enjoy coffee, donuts and conversation from 9:45-10 am when we start our agenda. We encourage you to bring a reusable coffee cup to support being green.
