The most sacred time of the year is the period of the High Holidays, from Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur. At Temple Israel, study sessions are offered in preparation for this holiest of all seasons. There are many opportunities for the congregation to come together in worship and study during these Days of Awe. Worship begins with our Selihot programs and prayer, which comprise the “midnight” Saturday service prior to Rosh Hashanah. We open the High Holidays with Erev Rosh Hashanah services, followed by worship on the first day of Rosh Hashanah. The moving Kol Nidre evening service is the prelude to our Yom Kippur day of prayer and fasting. Adults, teens, families and tots can enjoy separate daytime services during both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. These services offer a wide variety of musical expressions. At the conclusion of communal prayer, the congregation is invited to join together for a thoughtful casting off of our sins through Tashlich.
