Temple Israel of New Rochelle’s Congregation has their voices heard and encourages and applauds volunteerism through committees and involvement. There is a rich array of committees that serves both the Congregation and the Community.
Advocacy Committee leads TINR’s involvement in social and political advocacy, alongside organizations like the Interfaith Council for New Americans Westchester and RAC-NY.
Brotherhood offers opportunities for the men of TINR to connect with one another and engage the wider community through extensive programming for congregants of all ages (e.g., poker night, camping trip, scholarship support, and more).
Camp Pinebrook Advisory Group works closely with the professional staff to support camp program initiatives.
House & Grounds Committee is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and renovation of our campus. Engineers and architects are especially encouraged to join.
Inclusion Committee helps to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all members and their loves ones—as well as the community at large—regardless of race, ability, religion, ethnicity, or sexual self-identification.
Israel Action Committee sponsors educational, social, and cultural programming with the goal of enhancing our congregants’ relationship with Israel.
Kehillah School for Early Learning Advisory Group provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas between parents, teachers, and administrators for the purpose of enhancing the program.
Library Committee strives to keep our beautiful library current by acquiring new books on all matters of Judaic interest, from culture and wisdom to biographies and literature.
Marketing Committee seeks marketing professionals to be part of the TINR’s internal and external communication strategy.
Membership Committee welcomes members looking to be part of an inclusive Jewish community. Future efforts will include work on retention and re-engagement of current members.
Music Committee works in conjunction with the Cantor to plan musical programming throughout the year, including the annual benefit which supports the musical life of Temple Israel.
Religious School / Youth Advisory Group works in partnership with professional staff on program initiatives and explores innovative ways of enhancing the Jewish education we provide to our participants and families.
Ritual Committee works with the clergy to preserve and maintain our congregation’s rituals and artifacts.
Sisterhood offers opportunities for the women of TINR to connect with one another and engage the wider community in events that emphasize health, wellness, and fun (e.g. yoga classes, paint and sip, comedy night, and more).
Social Action Committee offers endless ways to get involved in and give back to the community, from projects and collections benefitting low-income populations in Westchester to conversations and events on issues occurring state-wide, nationally and internationally (e.g., reproductive healthcare, environment, refugee resettlement, and more).
Temple Israel Cares offers our members support during times of illness, bereavement, and celebration, furthering our mission of being a caring community rooted in Jewish ideals.
