The Omer has both agricultural and spiritual significance: it marks both the spring cycle of planting and harvest, and the Israelites’ journey out of slavery in Egypt (Passover) and toward receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai (Shavuot). This minor, but festive holiday, is usually celebrated with bonfires, symbolizing the “spiritual light” brought in to the world by Simeon ben Yochai (one of the greatest teachers of Jewish Law and ethics in the 2nd century), and happiness.

Come and celebrate this joyous holiday with a BBQ, have hot dogs, burgers (veggie also), and all the “fixins” of a BBQ, and more!, in the courtyard at Temple Israel.

Online RSVP will close on Friday, May 5th, midnight.
