Rabbi Jay’s Invite to Kristallnacht

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Members of the Interfaith Community:

On Friday evening, November 12th at 6PM, Temple Israel of New Rochelle will host the service of remembrance on the occasion of the 83rd anniversary of Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, where synagogues and Jewish owned businesses across Germany and Austria were destroyed. As the glass from these institutions and places of holy assembly reflected the fires as in shining crystals, as God’s holy temples were burned to the ground.

Today, in our America, we suffer not only from the plague of the COVID-19 virus, but also of anti-Semitism, systemic racism, and violence perpetrated against the Asian-American community, never seen before in recent memory. To this end, I invite you and the members of your congregations and organizations to attend this service, either in person or virtually at Temple Israel, 1000 Pinebrook Boulevard, New Rochelle, NY at 6PM. Our guest speaker will be David Gill, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in New York, a renowned statesman and a hero in the battle to erase the hate on a global scale.

To join our livestreamed service, please visit www.tinr.org, and click on the upper right corner on the word “Livestream.”

For further details, please refer to the attached flyer. We will also be honoring, on this Veterans’ Day weekend, all veterans who served and sacrificed for our nation.

As the service will take place indoors, please note that all adults should be masked.

Let us join together heart to heart, and soul to soul, at this Kristallnacht service of remembrance, fulfilling the sacred commandment to remember and jointly make the statement: Never Again!

May God bless you and keep you safe.

Rabbi Jay Rosenbaum
