 ga Schmitz-Fernich Luden cannot make this event.\n\nWe have asked Jacques 
 Silberman\, who is a 92-year-old Holocaust survivor and former hidden chil
 d. His first language is French. During World War II\, he and his younger 
 sister\, Lily\, were hidden throughout Belgium in various Catholic orphana
 ges. They were forced to move several times\, and Jacques had to change hi
 s name with each relocation to protect his identity. He was only eight yea
 rs old when the war began.\n\nAt 18\, Jacques immigrated to the United Sta
 tes\, where he learned English. He later served in the Korean War\, statio
 ned in France. After his service\, Jacques settled in Brooklyn and married
  his wife in 1960. They eventually moved to Yorktown\, where they raised t
 wo daughters and welcomed five grandchildren. He enjoyed a prolific career
  at IBM. For the past 12 years. Jacques now lives in New Rochelle.\n\nNo R
