Keep in Mind Our Special Opportunities for Students
Following is a list of programs for students with special interests. Questions and/or expressions of interest should be directed to Rabbi Beth Nichols, Director of Education.
- Volunteers for Family Services or Junior Congregation (Grades 8-12)
If you sing or play an instrument, please consider volunteering to learn how to help lead the musical portions of these services. If you have an interest in keeping up your Torah reading skills, we are looking for students interested in reading Torah at Junior Congregation services.
- Student Aide Program (Grades 7-12)
The Religious School can use the help of students in grades 7th-12th as student aides on Sunday mornings in Kindergarten through fourth grade classes. We also need student aides to assist Hebrew teachers during the week on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
Volunteering as a student aide is a personally rewarding experience.
If you have an interest in volunteering and are prepared to make
the commitment, please contact the Religious School office. No prior
experience is required. The teachers will teach you everything you
need to know. We are looking for people with a positive attitude
about Jewish education and a desire to pass that on to the younger
children in the school.
Volunteering in a classroom is not only a
mitzvah, but also a fantastic learning experience. Ask anyone who
has done it; they’ll tell you how great it is. Call today.
- Junior Congregation (Grades K-6 and Family Members)
Enjoy the spirit of Shabbat with family and friends. Junior Congregation is an informal Shabbat morning worship service conducted largely by the students. Appropriate parts, based on age and ability level, are available for every child who wants to participate. The children learn about Shabbat morning prayer by learning to lead it themselves.
This program takes place once a month with a breakfast following services sponsored by participating Junior Congregation families. Student attendance at Junior Congregation is recorded, and students can see their name on the Junior Congregation Honor Roll each month just outside the Religious School office. Students who have perfect attendance at Junior Congregation throughout the school year will receive a prize in May.
Worship With the Family
Shabbat Family Services are scheduled for the first Friday evening of every month at 7:30 p.m. Please join us for meaningful Shabbat worship especially designed for families to enjoy together. |
