Beth Nichols (Assistant Rabbi)
Rabbi Beth Nichols grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts. Throughout her childhood Rabbi Nichols was active at the local Reform synagogue, attending classes, teaching in the Religious School, and serving s a Youth Group board member. It was the support of her home congregation and its professional staff that inspired her to pursue the rabbinate. She entered Amherst College knowing she wanted to become a Rabbi. She graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Religion and Psychology in 2001.

Ordained at the Los Angeles campus of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in May, 2007, she also completed an MA in Hebrew Letters and an MA in Jewish Education from HUC-JIR. Rabbi Nichols was awarded prizes in Liturgy, Jewish Education, and Rabbinic Literature.

Rabbi Nichols praises her rabbinic training for its balance of academics and internships. Her career has been profoundly shaped by her mentors and congregants at Temple Emanuel in Beverly Hills, CA, Temple Beth Sholom in Santa Ana, CA, and Congregation Beth Shalom in Yuba City, CA. Rabbi Nichols also completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at UCLA Hospital.

Rabbi Nichols is thrilled that Jewish education is a central part of her role at TINR. She has a special interest in developing innovative curriculum for the Religious School. She also hopes to build strong interpersonal relationships and create a welcoming environment for interfaith families.
